STATEMENT: Civic Nation CEO Responds to Historic Turnout in 2026 Midterms

Despite Attempts to Silence and Intimidate Voters, Americans Came Together to Make Their Voices Heard on the Issues, Showing What Civic Power Looks Like in Action

Washington, DC: In response to historic voter turnout and civic participation in the 2026 midterm elections, Civic Nation CEO Kyle Lierman said:

“This election, voters made it clear that widespread efforts to make it harder to participate in our democracy would not stop them from going to the polls and making their voices heard on the issues impacting their lives. From the stripping away of campus polling sites to gerrymandered districts, the obstacles were real, and voters cleared them anyway. Across the country, voters of all ages, races, genders and political affiliations turned out in historic numbers. This extraordinary display of civic participation is proof that communities coming together can overcome fear and intimidation.

Civic participation, it turns out, is not something you can redistrict away or silence. By exercising their right to vote, America’s voters showed the world what civic power looks like when it is organized, resourced and treated as infrastructure that takes years to build rather than a one-cycle investment.

The work did not begin on Election Day, and it does not end there either. The communities that showed up to make their voices heard at the federal, state and local levels deserve institutions, laws and leaders that reflect their participation. We will continue working to make sure the civic infrastructure that made this election’s historic turnout possible grows even stronger than it is today, because democracy is not a campaign. It is a practice, and it belongs to every American.”
